Knowledge Releases New Album "Talk Box" After Signing with Indie Label Ruldope Records
Reno, NV, June 21, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Chari “Knowledge” Smith, front woman of the up and coming band Knowledge Lives Forever, continues her legacy as one of the hardest working musicians in town. After setting the tone for 2012 with a three album release followed by Knowledge Lives Forever’s first place win in the ‘Made in Reno” local band competition, Knowledge presents yet another full length album. This album entitled “Talk Box” is Knowledge’s first release on indie label Ruldope Records which she as a solo artist and her band signed to in May of this year. Knowledge, known for her engaging stage performances and socially conscious lyrics, stated that Talk Box differs in approach from past releases.
“I definitely went about this album differently. The name itself signifies a merging between commercial and conscious rap which I set out to do intentionally, but what really makes this album stand apart I think is how honest it is. I’m bearing all for the world to see in a real way. Just talking with the people eye to eye about things we can all relate to.”
“Generation Next,” the first single from the Talk Box album will be released online June 23rd to precede the full album release which is scheduled for August 3rd. The song speaks to the current political climate and Knowledge’s views as a young adult living in America. Knowledge parallels the song to “The Cause,” Knowledge Lives Forever’s most recent award winning single. “Just like with The Cause, the basic premise is the same; drawing attention and encouraging people to think and act.” The music video for Generation Next, which will be released along with the single on June 23rd, depicts Knowledge as the leader in a heist to obtain information with intent of spreading “the truth.” Not only did Smith write the treatment for the video, she also shot and directed it as well. “I’m a creative person,” said Smith regarding her seemingly limitless talent, “I’m lucky to have a team that believes in my vision and trusts my judgment.”
Knowledge will perform “Generation Next” live for the first time Sunday June 24th at the annual Speak Your Mind Hip Hop Festival this week at Winfield Park, and again at the R.A.W. Artist Showcase on July 13th at The Underground. “Talk Box is just the beginning of what’s to come from the Knowledge / Knowledge Lives Forever camp,” said Smith, “as always we will continue to push the envelope.”
