Alternative Cost-Effective Method for Indoor Air Quality: activTek Environmental Products Help Earn LEED Points

Dallas, TX, June 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- activTek Environmental recently announced that several of its products used during the construction of a commercial building in Brazil helped achieve the requirements for LEED EQ Credit 3.1-Indoor Air Quality Plan: During Construction and EQ Credit 3.2- Indoor Air Quality Plan: Before Occupancy.

Developed by the US Green Building Council, LEED certification provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.

“We are proud of our team and their efforts in Brazil. This is another great accomplishment toward the Green Environment movement through our products,” said activTek Chairman and CEO Joseph P. Urso.

During construction, activTek products were used to substantially improve air quality at the site. Results were substantiated via photographic evidence and on-site interviews. Before occupancy of the building, activTek products were incorporated as an alternative to the often-used “flush out” method.

Henrique Cury, President of distributor activTek Brazil and President of Brazilian Indoor Air Quality Association, said: “As this was our first worldwide project focused on LEED, we had many challenges to overcome. Now that the credits are granted, we’ve opened the path for other projects using activTek technology. Replacing the flush-out for our decontamination process is unique and brings a significant savings in energy. The results of these successful achievements in Brazil have been instantaneous, and we’ve been asked to promote the same processes for other important clients such as Google's new South American headquarters, which is based in São Paulo.”

activTek equipment has helped achieve objectives with alternative, cost-efficient methods. activTek products provide innovative approaches to the Indoor Air Quality issues that complement essential goals of sustainable building construction. Use of these products as part of the strategy to improve air quality during construction and before occupancy is a first step toward numerous exciting possibilities for activTek in this market.

activTek’s Vice President of International Sales and Operations Anil Agrawal noted: “The demand on this product line has increased, and we expect it to continue to grow, as our Distributors promote this tested solution worldwide.”
