SBPRA Authors Winners at 2012 New York Book Festival

New York, NY, June 29, 2012 --( SBPRA authors Imelda Cummins-DeMelkon, W.G. Griffiths, Barbara Prignano and Kenneth Rogers, Jr. have been recognized at the 2012 New York Book Festival for their recently published work. This annual festival celebrates books that the judges feel deserve greater recognition from the word’s publishing capital.

The Modern Voice of an Irish Immigrant, by Imelda Cummins-DeMelkon, received Honorable Mention in the Autobiography/Biography category. W.G. Griffiths’ Methuselah’s Pillar was an eBook selection for Honorable Mention. Barbara Prignano received Honorable Mention in the Children’s category for How Bunnies Got Their Cottontails and Sequence, by Kenneth Rogers, Jr., was awarded Honorable Mention for Science Fiction.

The Modern Voice of an Irish Immigrant explores what motivates a woman to leave her native land behind and settle in another country. Imelda Cummins-DeMelkon writes a fascinating account of her experiences growing up in Ireland as one of 12 children, and the struggles and challenges that led her to immigrate to the United States. The books was also a Pinnacle 2012 Award winner in the Memoir category.

Barbara Prignano’s imaginative children’s story How Bunnies Got their Cottontails tells how a bright boy and a curious bunny find each has just what the other needs. The author collaborated with childhood friend Jennifer K. Okubo, whose cheerful illustrations bring the story to life.

Sequence deals with a couple trapped inside the Pandora Complex, a phenomena which causes thoughts to travel from one memory to the next as they are downloaded into the Pandora system. Sequence questions our reality, while taking the reader on a remarkable journey into the mind. This is the fifth award for Kenneth Rogers Sequence since its publication last year; the awards include a NABE Pinnacle Achievement Award, Next Generation Indie Book Award, San Francisco Book Festival, and the Beach Book Festival.
