Local Artists Seek to Bring Back Family Name
Two brothers walk with pride in their great-grandfather’s footsteps, combining a passion for their work and a love for their hometown.
St. Petersburg, FL, June 20, 2007 --(PR.com)-- For many residents of St. Petersburg, the name Earl Gresh may be foreign to them. For others, the name brings back delightful memories of days long gone by. But for two local photographers, his name means everything.
In the early 1930’s, Earl Gresh began working on a vision. What started as a humble woodworking business fashioning buckles and buttons, soon blossomed into a highly successful and popular tourist destination that helped to draw the attention of visitors the world over.
Some 30 years after Earl’s death, the Gresh name has come back to life in St. Petersburg in the form of a pair of brothers. Michael and Matthew, owners of Gresh Photography, LLC and great-grandsons of Earl have been taking the city by storm with their classic combination of photography and fine art. From aerial shots of local business and historical landmarks, to portraitures and even product shots, Michael and Matthew have been working around the clock bringing stunning works of photographic art to the people and businesses of the city.
Michael, an 8-year veteran in the field, has always felt a kinship to St. Petersburg.
“This city will always be my home. No matter how many times I leave, I always find myself wanting to come back.”
Currently, the Gresh Brothers are planning a new venture, an art studio and training facility that will give professional and amateur artists a place to meet, learn new and exciting art techniques and be able to display and sell their works. Lovingly nicknamed “Project Earl”, the studio will feature examples of every artistic genre, including sculptures, music, paintings and assorted mixed mediums.
“Our city has been so kind, so generous to us all these years”, says Michael. “And we want to give something back. This has been a dream of ours for many years, and we’re very excited to get to work on making it a reality.”
