Does Exercise Affect Our Youth's Mental Health? Doing Sitacise Helps to Improve Youths Physical and Mental Health

Can exercise be used as an additional tool to aid in the prevention of mental illness in our youth? Especially when treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder?

North Canton, OH, July 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- In a press release dated May 18, 2012, titled: How Exercise Affect the Brain: Professor Bucci, an associate professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Dartmount, concluded that a gene has been identified which seems to mediate the degree to which exercise has a beneficial effect on the mental health of youth. This has implications for the potential use of exercise as an intervention for mental illness.

Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), one of the most common childhood psychological disorders, who did more exercise, seemed to respond better to behavior interventions then those that were more sedentary. Bucci thinks this could reduce the need to use as many drugs to treat these children with ADHD.

The Sitacise Program has been working with children to teach them how to increase their exercise levels during normal school hours. Based upon Bucci’s findings, Sitacise should aid in improving the mental health of our children in a very economical manner.
