)-- Robert Weiss, artistic director and CEO of Carolina Ballet (http://www.carolinaballet.com), has announced that the company will perform at the annual Appalachian Summer Festival in Farthing Auditorium at Appalachian State University on Friday, July 13 at 8 p.m. The performance consists of three pas de deux – Tarantella, choreography by George Balanchine; White Swan Pas de Deux, choreography by Lev Ivanov; and Black Swan Pas de Deux, choreography by Marius Petipa – as well as the new Beethoven: Symphony No. 9, choreography by Robert Weiss.
The Appalachian Summer Festival began in 1984 and has grown into one of the nation’s largest regional multi-arts festivals, with more than 26,000 people attending each year. The festival, presented by the Appalachian State University Office of Arts & Cultural Programs, features an exciting, diverse mix of dance, music, theatre, visual arts and film.
Adult tickets for Carolina Ballet’s performance cost $25, tickets for children ages 6 to18 cost $15, and tickets for children ages 5 and under cost $10. Appalachian State student tickets cost $15. For more information, contact the Farthing Auditorium Box Office at (828) 262-4046.
