Ziptip, a Mobile Pymts Solution for Tips & Gratuities, Has Released a New Version of Its Mobile App for iPhones That Enables the Payment of a Tip to Anyone with an Email

Boston, MA, July 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Ziptip, Inc., (ziptip.net) a mobile payments solution designed specifically for the payment of tips and gratuities, has released a new version of its free mobile app for iPhones that enables the payment of a tip or gratuity to anyone with an email address (and a PayPal account).

The newly released version of Ziptip’s app for iPhones enables a tipper to load the free app and tip anyone with an email address (and a PayPal account). This new feature expands tipping opportunities. All a tip recipient needs to do to get an instant tip directly to their PayPal account is provide their email address, entered by the Tipper (using the app) to transact the tip. Once a tip recipient customizes their free image at ziptip.net, customers can scan the image to transact a tip even faster.

Ziptip, Inc. was organized in order to solve the many problems of both paying and receiving tips and gratuities. A Tipper’s ability to tip is limited by cash on hand, time and social custom. With cash usage in decline (43% of recently polled don’t carry cash for at least a week at a time), Tippers are increasingly frustrated. Ziptip will benefit anyone who is affected by this continuing trend.

Ziptip is not about just providing an alternative to a cash tip; it’s also innovating the tipping space in other ways. Unlike regular tips where the tipping opportunity is limited to point of service, by utilizing business cards as part of its solution, Ziptip enables the tipper to tip whenever they like, even after point of service (or multiple times if they feel like it). This was never possible when cash tipping was the only option. Additionally, while cash tipping is limited by social custom, Ziptip tipping frees up tippers to tip whomever they feel like. After studying the tipping space over the past year, Ziptip CEO Lois Hamblet concluded that the personal connections that transpire to make us want to tip happen in many situations where tipping isn’t currently practiced. Some of these connections include but are not limited to musicians, artists, some retail workers and café workers.

Tippers simply load the free Ziptip app (available for iPhones and Android phones) and begin tipping. Tip recipients sign up at ziptip.net and customize their unique images used by tippers to transact a tip. It is common for users to have both tipper and tip recipient (i.e. tippee) accounts. For a limited period, new tip recipients who sign up at ziptip.net get a free initial order of business cards displaying their unique images.

The Ziptip service is available in over 20 countries.

Ziptip is included in Tech Cocktail's list of Boston's Hottest Startups and its solution has been awarded a number of accolades including Best Use Case/Best Market Potential (HP Cross Platform Challenge Award) and Best Use of the Sencha Touch App Framework at WIP Connector's Muther! of all Hackathons + DevCon and Best App, Silver Medal (Investors' Choice Award) and Best Use of the PayPal API (Sponsor’s Choice Award).
