Octagon Announces Partnership with Kestrel Consultants

Partnership to promote innovative approach to management of data standards.

Wayne, PA, June 21, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Chairman and CEO, Jim Walker of Octagon Research Solutions, Inc., a pioneer and leader in the electronic transformation of clinical R&D in the life sciences industry, today announced the formalization of a partnership agreement between Octagon and Kestrel Consultants, Inc., of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The partnership emerged from a joint project in which Octagon and Kestrel collaborated to provide a top biopharmaceutical company with a methodology and automating technology for managing and tracking clinical data standards throughout the clinical data lifecycle. Kestrel Consultants contributed its proprietary methodology utilizing “Data Lifecycle Plans®” while Octagon translated the business requirements for configuration and implementation of the ViewPoint® platform to automate these processes. The successful collaboration signaled the beginning of a groundbreaking approach that promises to save significant time and money through standardization and control of the data lifecycle from protocol development through clinical study reports and ultimately regulatory submissions.

Kit Howard, principal, Kestrel Consultants, noted, “The idea of tracking and managing data standards across the entire data lifecycle is new to much of the industry. Many companies see this as an ideal state but are nowhere near implementing the model. The concept of a data lifecycle plan continues to resonate with clients as they see the value of decreased study start-up times, global accessibility and quicker finalization of studies.”

Kirk Gallion, president, Octagon Research Solutions, Inc. added, “This partnership represents a very solid working relationship with Kestrel. We feel that ViewPoint is the ideal solution to automate the data standards framework that is applicable to any competitive pharmaceutical company. Emerging data standards such as CDISC SDTM make this approach even more valuable in a marketplace where change is constant and the value of standards management is just beginning to be appreciated for the time and cost savings it brings to the drug development process.”

The partnership agreement is being announced at the Drug Information Association’s 43rd Annual Meeting in Atlanta, GA where topics such as data standardization, process management and improving the drug development process will be at the top of many agendas.
