TV4U will televise the event, which is sponsored by TV4U E Magazine Boxing Illustrated.Net.

Las Vegas, NV, July 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Maricela Cornejo, the pride of Tri Cities, Washington, will make her professional boxing debut on Sunday, August 4th at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia.

She will fight for the Boxing Illustrated Novice Middleweight Championship, which is open to fighters with five pro fights or less. It will be a four round bout and will be televised on the TVS Television Network as a part of the TVS Circle of Sports. It will appear on TV4U.Com, the 48 channel IPTV network as well as on Amazon Instant Video, plus several regional sports cable networks.

The fight card is being promoted by Adrian Patrick of KO Kings. Facing Maricela Cornejo will be middleweight Mia Henderson from Atlanta, GA. Her record is 0-1.

Maricela Cornejo made a splash of sorts in Las Vegas, where she trains under Gil Martinez at the Elite Boxing Club. There, at the legendary Italian American Club in Las Vegas, she won her first amateur fight by pummeling her opponent into submission within 30 seconds, which included two standing 8 counts. With her legend growing (she started training at the Wild Card gym of Freddie Roche the year before), she was unable to get another fight, with opponents not showing at The Arnold Games in Columbus, Ohio, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. She did manage a second amateur bout in Escondido, California, again smashing her opponent into submission in the first round. The lack of fighters willing to enter the ring with Maricela cost her a chance at the Olympic trials, as USA Boxing requires a candidate have five fights.

Maricela Cornejo was a stellar collegiate athlete in the Yakima, Washington area before setting off to Hollywood to become an actress and model. She has appeared in two feature films and a tele novella, and is the spokesman for several local, regional, and national companies such as Lasik of Nevada, Mastrioni’s Clothing, and Chili Beer. It was in Hollywood, seeking to lose some weight for a movie role, that she went to the Wild Card Gym. There, she fell in love with boxing and began to train for a boxing career in earnest.
