Room 2 Productions and Random Music Release, "VS. Tour - The Mixtape"

In January 2012, Capcom-Licensed rapper and teacher Random, aka Mega Ran, with the help of Florida's own Willie Evans, Jr and managers Ms. L. Jay & Philly, aka Philly2As, (both formally of Boss Lady Management) announced “The VS. (Versus) Tour;” the first interactive tour combining musical performances with video gaming tournaments. Random’s manager and Hip-Hop enthusiast; Philly, with the help of his partners-in-crime (DJ Pot and DJ Destrucshawn), released “VS. Tour-The Mixtape.”

Philadelphia, PA, July 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- At the beginning of 2012, minds were brought together to discuss a tour and bring fans something that has never been seen or done before. The result of brainstorming led to Capcom-Licensed rapper and teacher Random, aka Mega Ran, with the help of Florida's own Willie Evans, Jr and managers Ms. L. Jay & Philly, aka Philly2Az, (both formally of Boss Lady Management) with the announcement of “The VS. (Versus) Tour;” the first interactive tour combining musical performances with video gaming tournaments.

Along with Ran & Willie on tour were Adam Warrock, RoQ’y TyRaid, DJ DN3 (the house DJ and DJ for both acts), and plenty of surprise guests. The “Team” traveled from town to town doing damage to not only microphones but to controllers as well. Random is a Street Fighter fan and Willie is a Tekken maniac so the love of video games and the new video game Street Fighter X Tekken, that hit stores on March 6, 2012, was the inspiration and foundation for the idea of the actual tour. The VS. (Versus) Tour was 14 cities and several venues that ended March 13, 2012 in Austin, TX, at the Nerdcore Showcase at South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival. The tour was wildly successful with lots and lots of fun along the way.

Random’s manager and Hip-Hop enthusiast, Philly, was so ecstatic with the success and fun he had on tour with the guys that he is preparing to change the game by bringing back the classic mixtape. “The feedback was awesome! Not one bad review and the fans were more than elated,” Philly says.

Born in Philadelphia, Philly, wears his Philly roots like a badge of honor (hence the nickname “Philly”)! Philly is a B-Boy and out of practice DJ (Philly is a 23 year Air Force Veteran that didn’t keep up with his DJ skills to fully partake in the military mission) who has a lot of knowledge in Hip-Hop; he is what people in his hometown calls an “Old Head” which is a term used in Philadelphia as endearment for someone who is older than you. Philly gets his mixtape roots from making “pause mixtapes” and studying his mixtape DJ heroes: DJ Doo Wop, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Ron G, DJ Tony Toca, and DJ Kid Capri.

In appreciation for a job well done by all the artists for help making the tour a success, Philly is about to release an appreciation mixtape for the fellas. It is simply titled: “The VS. Tour-The Mixtape.”

“So often I hear the statement, ‘I don’t listen to rap or Hip-Hop because there isn’t any good music anymore.’ Well I’m here to prove that very soft statement Wrong! I wanted to drop some Good music that's relevant, all the way Hip-Hop, and as always-pay homage to the DJ. ‘It’s only right seeing how a DJ is the Father of our culture (Kool Herc, we love you).’”

Philly is now managing just Random (for now), is co-founder of Rm2 Productions (with other Co-founders: DJ Pot and DJ Destrucshawn) and has build a team of DJs and beat makers for future projects, he is president of Jean Grae’s Fan Club, he is a proud member of Team Scratch and Scratch Vision Radio, and works close with The Writer’s Guild (Formed in Phoenix, Arizona, the Guild is collection of emcees and one poet, all with the same goal-- raising the bar and quality level in hip-hop music; Random, aka Mega Ran, RoQy TyRaiD, MC Pennywise and Mr. Miranda. The Culture is Back.).

The VS. Tour-The Mixtape is a free download and was released June 26, 2012 via DatPiff at: http://www.datpiff.com/Philly-Vs-Tour-the-Mixtape.366238.html.
