Broadway and Cabaret Star Raissa Katonah Bennett Will be Featured at Unity Café, Friday, July 27 at Unity of Greater Hartford in South Windsor

Unity of Greater Hartford welcomes Raissa Katonah Bennett.

South Windsor, CT, July 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Broadway and cabaret star Raissa Katonah Bennett will be the featured performer on Friday, July 27 at the monthly Unity Café coffee house at Unity of Greater Hartford, 989 Ellington Road (Route 30) in South Windsor, CT.

Raissa Katonah Bennett is a Connecticut native and Hartt School alumna who has achieved success in both theater and cabaret. On Broadway she starred as Christine in “Phantom of the Opera” and appeared in an Actors’ Fund benefit performance of “Chess.” She has appeared in first national tours of “Cats,” “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” and “Parade,” directed by Harold Prince.

Raissa has headlined in NYC at Feinstein’s, Metropolitan Room, Iridium and the Laurie Beechman Theatre, and has been featured at The Supper Club, Rainbow Room, Don’t Tell Mama, The Algonquin and Radio City Music Hall. She will be returning to Feinstein’s for a weeklong engagement this August. She has soloed with many symphony orchestras, and performed selections from her first CD, “What Was I Dreaming Of,” for the Lincoln Center Barnes & Noble "Any Wednesday" series.

Raissa’s newest CD, “Another Kind of Light” is being released this summer by LML Music. It includes three songs written expressly for her by composers Michael John LaChiusa and David Caldwell. She has received Bistro and MAC Awards for her work as creator, producer and host of Concerts for City Greens, dedicated to preserving city green spaces; she is also active in support of animal rescue.

Raissa Katonah Bennett will present one set at 8:30 p.m. at Unity Café. She will be preceded by an open mike beginning at 7:00. Admission is $10 per person, parking is free, and beverages and desserts are available for purchase.
