Wilshire Comedy Group Brings an All Star Comedy Show "Comedy In Paradise" to the Paradise Diner in Hauppauge, NY on Saturday August 18th

Another great night of dinner and comedy comes to Hauppauge, NY.

Hauppauge, NY, July 23, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Robyn Schall headlines this great night of comedy. Growing up in Hewlett, NY, actress and comedian, Robyn Schall had to wear leg braces and endure five hip surgeries after she was diagnosed with Perthes disease at 6-years-old, a condition resulting in a temporary loss of blood supply to the hip, but despite her struggle, she never lost her ability to make people laugh.

At an early age, Schall, 26, began performing and was very involved in theater at Hewlett High School. "Theater in Hewlett prepared me with acting skills that got me into a great college acting program," she said. "It also showed me how much I love performing and how I need to spend my life making people laugh."

Upon graduation from high school, Schall attended the University of Connecticut where she received a bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Acting. After college, she continued to go to auditions and her father, Ira, suggested she take a comedy class at Caroline’s, a comedy club in New York City. "I know the entertainment field is risky but I think it’s something she has to do," Ira said. "As a parent, it’s a beautiful thing to watch."

Two years ago,, Schall, now a Long Beach resident, enrolled in a six-week stand-up comedy program at Caroline’s where she met performer, Linda Smith, who taught the classes. Smith said she saw something in Schall during the first class and began guiding her, acting as her mentor.

"Robyn had never done comedy before," said Smith, who thinks that Schall is very funny and creative and views her as a "Fran Drescher type." "But I really saw something in her and you have to get behind the new talent."

When the classes ended, Schall continued to work with Smith to perfect her stand-up act. "Linda helped me book shows and she’s been my motivator," Schall said. "From the day I met her she said it doesn’t matter how funny you are, you have to have the 'it' factor and work hard."

Schall’s brother, Richie, missed her first show, but saw the video and couldn’t stop laughing. He had just moved back to Hewlett from Los Angeles where he had been a casting editor for game shows. Richie told his sister she had something and offered to be her manager.

"I book Robyn’s shows, keep her calm and make sure her career is going in the right direction," Richie said. "I also make sure she gets to places on time and that she always has a smile on her face." "It’s like having a best friend around," she said.

With the creative juices flowing from her funny life stories, Schall is expected to launch a web series, "Not the Sharpest Crayon," online this month. It stars Schall and a close girlfriend and focuses on how they can’t keep a job or a man, and can’t get their lives together. "It’s a modern day, ‘I Love Lucy,’" Schall said.

It’s been a long road said her days as an unhealthy youth. Now healthy, she is excited about her comedy career. She lost 85 pounds and works as a personal trainer with up to three in-home clients daily.

"I’m a very busy person," Schall said. "Someday, I’d love to be a talk show host, but right now I really just want to keep heading in the direction I’m going." Robyn will be headlining the world famous Carolines Comedy Club at the end of August.

Also appearing on the show is Joe Giarratano. "Joey G." was born and raised on Long Island. He has since relocated to Bayside, Queens where he currently resides in a cozy studio apartment. He is one of the fastest rising comedians on the New York scene today, performing almost every night of the year.

He has received write ups in Newsday and The Long Island Press. His autobiographical storytelling and observational humor has been featured on the Long Island Comedy Festival and Bo Burnham's Fake ID Tour.

Opening the show is comic-magician Harry Mandel.Harry has been performing magic for most of his life. Inspired by the Amazing Randi on Wonderama and Mark Wilson on his Magical Land of Alakazam back in the days of early kid’s television shows. Harry has always been intrigued by Carnival hucksters and pitchman, as well as the escape artistry of Harry Houdini. Amazingly it all ties in together. Houdini knew how to gather a crowd and pitch his shows.

Besides Trade Shows, corporate events and private parties, Harry has performed at various Comedy Clubs in the Tri-State area, as well as appeared on local TV. He recently had a successfully engagement at the Copacabana.

Harry Mandel performs Stage magic, Close-up magic, Escapes, and Mentalism.
