Paul Wharton Leads Festivities in JDRF "Celebrities for a Good Cause" Event

Over $400,000 was raised in a recent event by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Washington, DC.

Washington, DC, June 23, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Washington, DC held a wild and wooly fundraiser recently in the Capitol City.

Paul Wharton, the popular model and style coach of MTV and VH1 fame, lead the festivities as the featured star in the fundraiser for children with the dreaded disease.

The theme was a carnival-like atmosphere complete with egg-on-spoon and water bottle relay races, balloon busts and blindfolded spins with contestants stumbling and falling all around.

The celebrities in attendance were placed on teams with commercial builders and Pauls team, "Clark Construction" won the relay race, thankfully with no major injuries.

The goofy and uninhibited enjoyment of the process provided relief for awhile from the cloud of suffering that children with the disease experience, and the event was also smashingly successful as $420,000 was raised for the cause.

The mission of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease that strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is neither a cure nor a preventative and research is ongoing.

Since its founding in 1970 JDRF has funded over $800 million for research at top universities, medical centers, and laboratories around the world.

The JDRF enlists the aid of celebrities like Paul Wharton and others because their notoriety helps to raise awareness for charitable organizations.

Currently Paul can be seen on the hit television show, "The Agency" on VH1, and look for some of his new TV projects coming in the fall. One of his new internet events coming soon will be his online modeling web site. New and experienced models are welcome and may register now for his free email blast at www.evolutionlook.diamax.com
