Chicago-Based Handbag Designer Pulls Inspiration from Her Youth

Brynn Capella’s 70’s Southern California Upbringing Shows It’s True Colors in Her Fall 2012 “Liberation” Collection debuting this month.

Chicago, IL, August 04, 2012 --(PR.com)-- One might think that growing up in the 70’s could have a bad influence…imagine bell-bottoms, afros, leotards and three-piece suits. But Capella has taken the best parts of the decade, the rich 70’s color palette of Chestnut Brown, Harvest Gold, Avocado and Pumpkin, mixed them with the menswear influences, and created a collection that is out-of-sight.

According to Elle Magazine, there’s a “loud and clear message in borrowed-from-the-boys pieces imbued with a ’70s sensibility and a liberating—and seductive—ease.”

The fall collection, aptly titled Liberation, takes us back to a simpler time when groovy was in and menswear was made chic for women. The collection launches online August 21, 2012. But starting August 7th, our Lauren Crossbody/Foldover bag, the most popular style in the collection, will not only be available for pre-orders (with free shipping promotion), but features a new partner in crime…the Mini-Lauren.

Capella saw a need to offer her customers a smaller version for petite woman and those who simply didn’t want a large bag. It’s already popular among the retailers that carry the line: Fixture, Cerato, Spare Parts, Florodora, and Arm Candy, to name a few.

With the release of this on-trend collection comes a nomination for the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award that highlights emerging talent in both the design and fashion industries. Capella is one of four nominees for Accessories, with the winners being announced at Hotel SAX in Chicago on September 12.

For those wanting to see this fabulous collection that highlights colors such as Spill The Wine, Brown Eyed Girl, Mary Jane and more, in person, they are in luck. On August 18 the season’s debut trunk show will be at Comfort Me Boutique in Lincoln Park, IL. New to the Chicago marketplace, Comfort Me is quickly becoming a favorite of locals throughout the city of Chicago. Now, that’s cool.
