Sky-Pony Serves Up Quirky Indie-Rock with Theatrical Flair at Joe's Pub in NYC on August 19th

New York, NY, August 07, 2012 --(PR.com)-- On Sunday August 19th, the band Sky-Pony will explode onto the stage of Joe's Pub like a herd of stampeding wild horses. They'll serve up a high-energy set of original tunes inspired in equal parts by indie-rock and good old-fashioned American Songbook balladry.

Expect a live show with theatrical flair: incorporating costumes, backup singers, choreography, and projections. On Sunday August 19th at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street, New York, NY). Doors at 7pm, show at 7:30pm. Tickets $12 and available in advance through www.joespub.com.

Sky-Pony is a Brooklyn based band led by theater-world couple Lauren Worsham (singer/actress who's appeared in City Center's Where's Charley and City Opera's Candide among others) and Kyle Jarrow (Obie Award winning playwright/composer known for A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant, Hostage Song, also of the band The Fabulous Entourage).

The New York Times said Lauren Worsham should have been nominated for a Tony Award for her role in Where's Charley. The Village Voice has written, "Kyle Jarrow's music commands attention." When their powers combine, Sky-Pony is the result. Sort of like Captain Planet, but sexier.

The band also features the talents of guitarist Kevin Wunderlich, drummer Perry Silver, bassist Eric Day, cellist David Blasher, and backup singers Jessi Suzuki and Megan Stern (star of the recent downtown hit The Material World). Sky-Pony is also proud to welcome a special guest horn section featuring Matt Owens of the band Soulive, as well as originally-commissioned projection art by the Krovatin Brothers.
