Fike Donates to Blue Springs Veterans Way Memorial

Blue Springs, MO, August 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- On Friday, August 3, 2012, Fike President and CEO, Chuck Kopoulos, presented a $10,000 check to Blue Springs Mayor, Carson Ross, showing Fike’s support and lead partnership for the Veterans Way Memorial.

In 2010, Blue Springs hosted "The Wall That Heals," a traveling replica of Washington D.C.’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial. More than 50,000 people visited the exhibit, and the new Veterans Way Memorial will identify the site where “The Wall That Heals” was located, in Blue Spring’s Pink Hill Park.

“Fike has been a part of the Blue Springs community for over 50 years, and we are honored to be a lead partner for this historic memorial,” commented Kopoulos. “It says a great deal about Blue Springs that they are building a memorial to honor our veterans, and we are proud to be a part of it.”

The Veterans Way Memorial is dedicated to the sacrifice, courage and valor of all veterans who served the United States and is meant to serve as a place for personal contemplation or reflection for veterans, veterans’ families and friends. It is also designed as a site for educating youth about the historical significance of wars fought in defense of the country. The memorial is being funded by private donations from the community and organizers hope to break ground sometime this month.
