Medicare Supplement Insurance Association Launches Online Directory

To assist consumers seeking knowledgeable Medicare supplement insurance agents, an online Find An Agent directory has been launched by the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance.

Westlake Village, CA, August 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- A national online find a Medicare Supplement insurance online directory has been launched today by the American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance, a national trade group.

“Consumers have been increasingly calling our offices with questions and the best way to help them is by connecting them with local professionals,” states Jesse Slome, executive director of the organization headquartered in Los Angeles.

According to Slome, Medicare pays for many health care services and supplies, but it doesn't pay for everything. “That's why millions of Americans look into getting a Medigap policy, also called Medicare Supplemental Insurance.” A Medigap policy is health insurance sold by private insurance companies and regulated by Medicare as well as state departments of insurance.

“Medigap policies help pay some of the costs that original Medicare doesn't cover, such as copayments, coinsurance, and yearly deductibles,” Slome notes. “It basically fills the 'gaps' in original Medicare coverage.” Currently, there are 10 standardized Medigap plans and one high deductible plan, each represented by a letter (A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, N, and high deductible F). “Benefits and coverage rates vary with each type of plan,” Slome notes, “and it can get confusing for a consumer so it really pays to speak with an experienced specialist.”

To provide consumers with easy access to local Medicare supplemental insurance agents in each of the 50 states, the organization is launching an online directory. “People want the ease of connecting with an agent today for information as well as no-obligation cost quotes,” Slome adds. “Agents who are willing to help prospective new clients will be listed.”

The American Association for Medicare Supplement Insurance is a sister organization to the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. Both organizations were established to educate consumers and support insurance and financial professionals.
