Louisiana and Tennessee Join SAWCA and WCEC Annual National Regulators Roundtable August 21

Representatives from Louisiana and Tennessee will join nine other states at the Second Annual National Regulators Roundtable on Tuesday, August 21, during the Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference (WCEC) in Orlando.

Orlando, FL, August 12, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Representatives from Louisiana and Tennessee will join nine other states at the Second Annual National Regulators Roundtable on Tuesday, August 21, during the Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference (WCEC) in Orlando.

Sponsored by the Southern Association of Workers’ Compensation Administrators (SAWCA), this unique panel brings together regulators from throughout the country to discuss challenges, concerns, and issues facing individual jurisdictions in the oversight of the ever changing workers’ compensation industry.

The National Regulators Roundtable is a forum where regulators share lessons learned and seek timely answers to their most pressing issues. Problems faced by one jurisdiction may have already been successfully addressed by another. A developing issue or concern in one state may be an omen for future developments in another, and certainly, legislative issues know no boundaries.

SAWCA President Dwight T. Lovan, commissioner of the Kentucky Department of Workers’ Claims, will moderate the 2012 roundtable. Gary Davis, secretary/treasurer of SAWCA will provide the welcome address.

Topics to be discussed include: Any & All Things Medical; Employer Compliance; Adjudication of Benefits; Managing the Legislative Environment; Facing Tough Economic Times; Advancing Technology; the Irving/Prime Tanning bankruptcy ruling, and more. The session will end with a “lightening round,” providing the audience an opportunity to question the regulators. Regulators on the panel will also be given the opportunity to question other regulators.

Panel members are: Gary Cannon, executive director, South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission; Karl Aumann, chairman, Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission; Richard Thompson, chairman, Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation; David Langham, Florida deputy chief judge of workers’ compensation claims; Roger L. Williams, commissioner, Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission; Melodie Belcher, division director and administrative law judge, Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation; Michele J. McDonald, assistant attorney general, Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission; Rod Bordelon, commissioner, Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation; Tanner Holloman, director, Division of Workers’ Compensation, Department of Financial Services; Andrew Sabolic, assistant director, Division of Workers’ Compensation, Department of Financial Services; Paul H. Sighinolfi, executive director and chair, Maine Workers' Compensation Board; Sheral C. Kellar, workers’ compensation chief judge, Louisiana Workforce Commission; and Landon Lackey, Esq., benefit review directors, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

In addition to the Roundtable presentation, individual appointments with certain regulators can be made at the Conference to answer questions related to specific jurisdictions. Appointments may be made at www.wci360.com/conference/ask-the-regulators.
