)-- The Wright State University Raiders have chosen to join the FieldTurf family. School officials recently announced the decision to install FieldTurf DoublePlay Classic at Nischwitz Stadium, home to the university’s baseball program. Using FieldTurf’s "SmartBuy" cooperative program, Wright State was provided with a simple purchasing process and elected to go to a surface that will positively affect the baseball team for years to come.
“The addition of FieldTurf will transform Nischwitz Baseball Stadium into one of the finest baseball facilities in the Midwest,” said WSU Director of Athletics Bob Grant. “This new playing surface will allow our student-athletes much more flexibility in terms of time on the field and in the classroom. We have been fortunate at establishing a strong reputation for providing top-notch facilities for our student-athletes and this addition certainly meets those high standards.”
FieldTurf’s product development team, along with research partner Penn State University, designed the DoublePlay product line to be completely customizable to the needs of baseball clients by controlling the speed and pace of the baseball through innovative fiber height and infill solutions. Such customization allows for all baseball programs to get the field they want and the field that best compliments the skills of their team. Surely, these features are what attracts Wright State to the DoublePlay system, and thus should reflect the school’s product on the field.
“Our DoublePlay Classic product represents a new era for the sport of baseball, and we’re proud to add the Wright State Raiders to an already impressive list of D-1 schools playing on FieldTurf,” said FieldTurf President Eric Daliere. “Being able to fine tune and customize your diamond is a real advantage, and most experts will agree that having the right baseball surface is critical towards any team’s success. With DoublePlay Classic, WSU will reshape their baseball program and reap all the benefits FieldTurf has to offer.”
Joining Wright State on baseball FieldTurf includes the University of Texas, University of New Mexico, Oregon State University, University of Oregon, Rutgers University, and George Washington University, to name a few.
