Polyolefins Producers Can Use Membrane Recovery Units to Increase Margins

Intratec's most recent publication unveils that improvement opportunity demonstrates attractive return of investment.

Houston, TX, August 15, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The latest publication released by Intratec Solutions LLC (www.intratec.us), a Houston publisher and chemical process consulting firm, shows the recovery of propylene from polymer degassing steps, through the installation of a membrane-based unit similar to MTR VaporSep ®.

The tight propylene market and the ever-growing pressure encountered by industries to deliver profitability, turns the utilization of a monomer recovery solution essential for new and older plants. Keeping pace with this trend, the propylene recovery unit (PRU) demonstrates to be a remarkable solution.

According to the report, the installation of such unit in a polypropylene plant producing 450 kta and located in the US Gulf Coast presents the most advantageous rate of return, achieving near 40%, as a result of high margins and the lowest investment. In Germany and Brazil, the other localities studied, its implementation also demonstrated to be an interesting initiative.

The publication Membranes on Polyolefins Plants Vent Recovery shows that the alternative of using the vent stream containing monomer and nitrogen as supplementary fuel tends to be less attractive in terms of earnings, when compared to those obtained through membrane recovery.

Membranes on Polyolefins Plants Vent Recovery belongs to the Improvement Economics Program (IME), and is available at established distribution channels like Amazon.com and HP Magcloud. The report is also offered at Intratec's website at an introductory price of US$ 399, with the addition of its digital version. A preview of the publication can be found at: http://intratec.us/publications/membranes-on-polyolefins-plants-vent-recovery.

IME reports are offered with free Economic Updates of the figures presented in each report. Readers will have online access to up-to-date tables and graphics with no additional cost whatsoever.
