)-- Old Chatham Golf Club (http://www.oldchathamgolf.org), a Triangle-based golf club, has announced that renowned PGA Tour teaching professional, Patrick Kelley, is making the move from teaching full time on the PGA Tour to having his players come to him at Old Chatham. Kelley will offer golf lessons to members and guests on the expansive practice facilities and playing lessons on the course. Kelley’s lessons cover swing mechanics, short game technique, mental preparation and other aspects of the game. He is recognized as one of the foremost putting instructors in the game today.
Kelley teaches clients of all ages and skill levels, including beginners as young as eight years old, American Junior Golf Association members and PGA Tour players. He has taught several professional clients, including David Mathis, Brad Fritsch, Michael Putnam, Andrew Putnam and Justin Walters, who have won a combined eight PGA tours. Kelley’s sessions typically last one hour but can be adjusted to fit a student’s individual needs. He has instructed PGA Tour players for up to four hours at a time.
After starting his career as a junior player, he spent a few years on tour before switching to golf instruction, and soon had an A-List of clients. Today he has more than 100 full-time clients.
A native of Seattle and Palm Springs, Calif., Kelley currently resides in Fuquay-Varina, N.C. with his wife, Melissa, and their two daughters, Aubrey Lynn and Reagan Jane. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in economics and philosophy.
“We are excited to have Patrick join our club as a golf instructor,” said John Marino, Old Chatham Golf Club director of operations. “He has years of expertise and success at the PGA Tour level and will be an exceptional asset to our members and guests. We are certain that anyone who takes lessons from Patrick will leave their session as a much improved golf player.”
“My personality and passion for golf and helping people was better suited for teaching than playing,” said Kelley. “I am proud to bring my clients out here to Old Chatham. It offers a level of privacy and service that is unmatched and my clients feel very comfortable and at home here. My clients love the story and feel of Old Chatham. It is a unique and special place.”
"Whether you are a professional or an average golfer trying to get better, Patrick is the perfect swing coach and teacher,” said Old Chatham Golf Club member Sandy Costa,
