Additional Hernon Manufacturing Formulations Receive NSF Approval for Drinking Water

NSF International has certified that several more of Hernon products conform to the requirements of NSF/ANSI Standard 61 - Drinking Water System Components - Health Effects.

Sanford, FL, August 31, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Hernon Manufacturing, the North American innovator in adhesives, sealants and dispensing equipment, recently received notification that six more products have received NSF approval for drinking water. These products were certified in addition to five Cylinlock formulations Hernon announced last week.

NSF International certifies products and writes standards for food, water and consumer goods. As an independent, not-for-profit organization, their ongoing public health commitment is to encourage everyone to live safer.

NSF International certified that the following products conform to the requirements ofNSF/ANSI Standard 61 - Drinking Water System Components - Health Effects:

Sealants:
Hernon® Porosity Sealant 990 (HPS 990) is the solution to leak proofing of parts. HPS offers improved machinability and surface quality for painting and plating. The hardened resins exhibit superior chemical resistance and elevated temperature stability. HPS 990 is an anaerobic-cure polymer impregnation resin. HPS 990 cures once it reaches the inner porosity of metal components. HPS 990 is certified to ANSI/NSF Standard 61 for use in commercial and residential potable water systems not exceeding 82°C (180°F). This product was certified for a maximum surface area to volume ration of 50 sq. in./L. It was also certified for brass materials having no greater than 12% porosity.

Thread Compounds:
Dripstop® 923 is specially formulated for use on tapered threads and provides a lower break-loose torque than Dripstop® 940. Tapered threads “cone” together, so Dripstop® 923 is formulated for easier dis-assembly. 923 delivers temperature integrity to 300°F continuous and intermittent exposures to 375°F are tolerated.

Hernon® Self Seeler 604 and Hernon® Self Seeler 618 are essentially the same with the exception of color. White is chosen for a “pipe sealant” look, and orange selected for an obvious indication of the presence of the special coating. The difference is strictly cosmetic. With the low viscosity grades, parts can be effectively tumbled with the Self Seeler as a simple means of coating the threads. Similarly, parts can be placed into plastic bags and shaken to apply the coating. Low viscosity types can be hand applied and brushed onto the thread path.

Hernon® Self Seeler 615 is a high viscosity, non-hardening, threaded pipe sealant. The preapplied application is suited for production environments. When Self Seeler 615 dries it becomes a resilient sealant for tapered or straight threads. Threaded components can be loosened and tightened up to eight (8) times without recoating.

Hernon® Self Seeler 616 is a high viscosity, non-hardening, threaded pipe sealant. The preapplied application is suited for production environments. When Self Seeler 616 dries it becomes a resilient sealant for tapered or straight threads. Threaded components can be loosened and tightened up to eight (8) times without recoating.

In a previous release, Hernon announced that the NSF confirmed that following adhesives conform to the requirements of NSF/ANSI Standard 61 - Drinking Water System Components - Health Effects: Cylinlock 24232, Cylinlock 824, 843, 845,846. These products had also been evaluated for the use in Mechanical Plumbing Device applications. Certification does not include a primer.
