October is "National Anti-Bullying Awareness Month"

Through her book, Dear Bully: A Collection of Poems about Bullying, Joyce Fields, of Good Short Books, aims to reach the bullied and the bully. The 25 poems, contained on 54 pages, are a tremendous aid to teachers and students.

Los Angeles, CA, September 07, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Joyce Fields creatively addresses the issue of bullying with her book, Dear Bully: A Collection of Poems about Bullying, available at http://www.amazon.com.

While there are movies, plays, and books of prose about bullying, Joyce has chosen to awaken children’s hearts to the pain and horror of bullying through poetry. The 25 poems, contained on 54 pages, are accompanied by “no” graphics and are written from the perspectives of the bullied, parent of the bullied, sibling of the bully, the school bus driver, and even the bully him or herself.

Joyce states, “It appears that bullying has become much more brutal. So much so that, at more alarming rates, kids are committing suicide rather than face the bully one more day. I wrote this collection of poems with the goal of reaching out to bullies and those they bully. I hope that the poems will grab the emotions of the bully and inspire him (or her) to change for the better. And, for the bullied, I hope that they will be inspired to stand strong and not give the bully too much power.”

The book can be used as a study aid for teachers to facilitate bullying discussions in their classrooms. Children can add to the book by writing their own poems about bullying and using the “no” graphics to explain what the words mean to them.

Joyce has a video at http://youtube.com where she’s reading six of the poems from Dear Bully: A Collection of Poems about Bullying. Her mission statement is “I write books that inspire people on their journey to make the world a better place.”
