Hood Technology’s New Stabilized Imaging Payload for Small UAVs

Alticam EO/IR-P features MWIR Sensor and Laser Pointer for Advanced ISR

HoodTech, OR, September 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- HoodTech Vision (www.hoodtech.com), manufacturer of advanced stabilized imaging systems for small unmanned systems, announces the Alticam 09 EO/IR- P. The electro-optic (EO) and infrared (IR) camera system includes two advanced capabilities, an image overlay function and a laser pointer with beam characteristics of 830 nm, 150 mW, 1.0 mrad. Housed in an articulated nose enclosure cylinder measuring 30 cm long x 20 cm diameter, the turret is gyro-stabilized with multiple pointing modes for superior long-range imaging from moving platforms. The roll-over-tilt function has an 80-degree forward and a 45-degree backward tilt and an endless 360-degree roll. Typical slew rate is 45 degrees per second.

Including EO (400-700 nm) and cooled-MWIR (3-5 um) cameras, HoodTech’s new, stabilized dual imaging system includes a built-in Alticam Vision System (AVS) which manages composite NTSC video processing. Other features include continuous zoom on both EO and IR cameras. The MWIR horizontal field-of-view (HFOV) ranges from 2 to 25.5 degrees; the EO HFOV ranges from 1.1 to 25.5 degrees.

Hood Tech’s low size, weight, and power (low SWaP) Alticam EO/IR-P imaging system weighs only 3,400 grams with the articulating nose dome. Designed for small unmanned vehicles, the Alticam 09 EO/IR-P is also ideal for use on piloted planes, blimps, ground vehicles, autonomous maritime, and other unmanned surface vehicles. The turret is supported with the configurable Alticam Payload Pod for adaptation to various platforms.
