Cavern Club Mic, Piece of Stage & Purchase Order to Auction

Original Cavern Club memorabilia, as used by The Beatles, will sell at PFC Auctions this month.

Guernsey, United Kingdom, September 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- A selection of memorabilia from the original Cavern Club in Liverpool, UK will sell at PFC Auctions on September 27 2012.

Included in the sale is:

-A Reslo ribbon microphone from the Cavern Club, as used by The Beatles
-A piece of the original Cavern Club stage, as played on by The Beatles 292 times between 1961 and 1963 (7½” x 5¼” x 1”)
-The original Compulsory Purchase Order for the Cavern Club from British Rail who were developing the new underground railway in Liverpool and needed the site of the Cavern to sink a ventilation shaft to bring fresh air into the excavations, resulting in the closure of the original club in 1973.

The microphone and piece of stage come from the collection of Nigel Greenberg who opened the Cavern Sound Recording Studio in 1964. The Purchase Order is from the collection of Debbie Greenberg whose Father, Alf Geoghegan, was the owner of the Club at the time the Purchase Order was issued.

The ‘birthplace of The Beatles’, the Cavern was where the band were spotted by Brian Epstein who managed them until his death in 1967. We expect these unique items to draw attention from music fans around the world.”
