Hazardous gas detection is a global industry slated to reach $1.5 billion by 2017, according to Global Industry Analysts (GIA), due to an increased concern about facility and worker safety, coupled with stricter regulations and legislation. Likewise, the world market for personal protective equipment (PPE) is also expected to grow into a $33.3 billion industry by 2015, also according to GIA. Factors influencing this market are a rebound in the employment market, new technology, a larger emphasis on worker safety and tighter regulations.

From October 20-25, the Congress portion of the event will take place, featuring seminars, speakers, workshops, and book signings. The Expo will hold more that 850 exhibitors and draw more than 12,000 attendees, making the combined events the leading safety, health and environmental industries' networking experience. A few of the highlights of the Expo will include a new products showcase, a Safety Trail, which leads visitors through corridors of safety milestones throughout the last century, and the Safety Theater, which seats 50 people at a time and will play snippets of film used for safety advocacy over the last 100 years.
