New Canadian Product Listing for Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation from Bayer MaterialScience LLC

Bayer MaterialScience LLC spray polyurethane foam insulation evaluated as a Type 2 insulation by Canadian Construction Materials Centre.

Spring, TX, September 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The average temperature in Montreal, Canada swings between 23 degrees and 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Canadian architects, contractors and building owners now have another option to meet requirements under the National Building Code of Canada and provincial codes for effective, high-performance insulation in the demanding Canadian environment. EcoBay™ Closed Cell (CC) CAN and EcoBay™ CC Arctic CAN spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation from Bayer MaterialScience LLC now have a Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC) evaluation listing for their conformance to the Canadian standard CAN/ULC-S705.1-01 as a Type 2 insulation.

The CAN/ULC-S705.1 standard specification defines requirements for two types of medium-density SPF insulation. Type 1 insulation requires a lower tested long-term thermal resistance. Under the Canadian standard, Type 2 insulation materials must exhibit a thermal resistance of 2.0 RSI or greater at 50 mm. Bayer’s EcoBay™ CC CAN and EcoBay™ CC Arctic CAN are among a very limited group of Type 2 medium-density SPF with CCMC evaluation listings. Complete specification information for EcoBay™ CC CAN insulation and EcoBay™ CC Arctic CAN insulation is available in the Bayer online library of technical data sheets at ttp://spf.bayermaterialscience.com/library.

“CCMC provides a crucial service for Canadian contractors and architects. They see the most innovative building products being developed and use the latest technology and expertise available to evaluate those products,” said Jose Luna, technology manager, Bayer MaterialScience LLC Spray Insulation and Roofing Materials. “With the technical opinion CCMC provided for EcoBay™ CC CAN and EcoBay™ CC Arctic CAN, I’m confidant it can help achieve the strict Canadian energy efficiency requirements for air barriers and higher insulation values.”

As required by CCMC, third party testing company Exova simulated the long-term thermal resistance of EcoBay™ CC CAN and EcoBay™ CC Arctic CAN per test method CAN/ULC-S774.

CCMC operates under the general policy and technical advice of the Canadian Commission on Construction Materials Evaluation (CCCME), whose members are drawn from across the country.
