Krupp Gets New Upscale Look

The site at that time was rather stark and simple. We went through several concepting sessions and the final result was a much heavier, solid design.” Fast-forward three years and that design was looking a bit old, dated, and too heavy. Managing site updates and working with Krupp over the last three years has helped to strengthen the relationship between Krupp and Identity Developments. “You really connect with a client and you watch and experience their growth and transformation. Krupp and the type of projects they were doing had grown and evolved over the last three years, but their website reflected where they were, not where they are or where they are going. You look at the photos of their projects, and some of these places are breathtakingly amazing! It’s like flipping through a high-end interior design magazine… and that’s what the site needed to reflect. Instead of countless concepts, the redesign was captured in one concept.”

The new site design was not only a dramatic change in look and feel, but also a dramatic change in development. The previous website took several months to develop while the redesign was done in a matter of weeks, and at a fraction of the cost, even though the site actually grew in size. Because Identity Developments develops websites to web standards using XHTML and CSS and doesn’t rely on tables for layout, much of the original content was easily reusable without having to recreate everything. “Sadly, the vast majority of websites are not created this way. It would be like Krupp tearing down a building and rebuilding it from scratch just to add a new doorway,” says Brian. “Unfortunately, many people pick their web designer based on who has the lowest bid. Good websites, like most things in life, often cost more up front, but have an overall lower cost in the long term.”
