AT&T Championship Secures the Top Thirty Charles Schwab Cup Points Leaders on the Champions Tour for October Tournament

AT&T Championship announces the commitment of the current top thirty Charles Schwab Cup points leaders on the Champions Tour;Most recent commitments are Charles Schwab Cup Points leader, Tom Lehman, and defending champion of the AT&T Championship, Fred Couples; The tournament will be held on Oct. 22-28 at TPC San Antonio’s AT&T Canyons Course.

San Antonio, TX, September 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The AT&T Championship announced that the current top thirty players on the Charles Schwab Cup points list have all committed to play in its tournament in October. The most recent commitments include Fred Couples and Tom Lehman. The Champions Tour event will tee off at TPC San Antonio’s AT&T Canyons Course from Oct. 22-28, with days of championship play Friday through Sunday.

“This is the first time we have had the top thirty on the tour committed, which is fantastic for the tournament and all of our attendees,” said tournament director Colby Callaway. “Fred Couples led an impeccably-played three days of golf last year. Having the best of the best to play along with him is everything we could have imagined.”

Couples, the AT&T Championship defending champion, has won two tournaments in this year’s Champions Tour, the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic and The Senior Open Championship. He currently sits at the fifth spot in the Charles Schwab Cup Points list. Lehman, who is atop the leaderboard, holds a 246-point lead over Bernhard Langer on the list.

For the third year in a row, tickets are free to the public at the gates. San Antonio area non-profit organizations will be distributing tickets to the general public leading up to the tournament as a part of the Champions “FORE” Charities Ticket Program. Each of the thirty participating charities will receive a donation as a part of the program. Fans may also pick up tickets at the gate during tournament days. Days of tournament play are October 26-28.
