Foremost Authority on Ip Man Wing Chun Kung Fu Demonstrates the Way of the Dragon in Signal Hill, CA

Grandmaster Samuel Kwok kicks off West Coast Wing Chun's grand opening with a live Wing Chun demonstration and instructs a two day seminar in early October. Both are open to the public.

Signal Hill, CA, September 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- West Coast Wing Chun announces the return of Grandmaster Samuel Kwok, founder of the Samuel Kwok Wing Chun Martial Art Association based in the UK, to the greater Long Beach area. Grandmaster Kwok will perform a live demonstration at the grand opening of West Coast Wing Chun’s new location in Signal Hill slated for Oct. 5th from 7 pm – 9 pm. He will then conduct a 2 day seminar/workshop that will include intensive training in Chi Sau, Wing Chun fighting applications and the Wooden Dummy on Oct 6th and Oct 7th from 10 am to 6 pm both days.

With more than 45 years experience in Wing Chun, Kwok is the disciple of both Grandmasters Ip Chun and Ip Ching, sons of the legendary Ip Man. Grandmaster Ip Man trained legendary film star Bruce Lee in Hong Kong and has recently been the inspiration for many critically acclaimed movies, including Ip Man, Ip Man 2, The Legend is Born – Ip Man, and most currently, Ip Man 3. Grandmaster Kwok is considered the foremost authority on Ip Man Wing Chun, and it is his student, Leo Au Yeung who was technical choreographer for the Ip Man movies.

Wing Chun's specialty is in close contact combat. Its effectiveness is achieved through its skill and science rather than brute strength. It teaches the student to overcome their opponents strength by optimal body positioning and correct usage of energy while taking advantage of the shortest possible distance between the practitioner and the opponent. Wing Chun is unique in that there are no set of predefined movements. Students practice Chi Sau, a form of training that helps the student develop a responsive reflex and develops sensitivity, or "reacting to feeling rather than sight."

Due to Wing Chun's effectiveness, this martial art makes for an optimum form of self defense and is the ideal martial art for women, as well as men. The principles, theories and techniques of Wing Chun may be applied in any fighting application. Grandmaster Kwok encourages new and skilled students of Wing Chun attend the seminars, as well as practitioners of varying martial arts backgrounds.
