Samurai Karate Studio Promotes Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Columbia, SC, October 03, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Sensei Chris Feldt, owner and chief instructor for Samurai Karate Studio, located in Richland Northeast Columbia, South Carolina, recently announced his school is offering a self defense workshop for women on Saturday, October 27th at noon.

"October is national Domestic Violence Awareness month," commented Sensei Feldt. "I want to try and raise awareness by offering this workshop so that women can feel more empowered to protect themselves. South Carolina ranks 6th in the nation in domestic violence and 2nd for domestic violence murders. This is a very real issue for many women in our state."

The workshop will include situational awareness, attack indicators, predator warning signs and attack points.

"We will also cover a few simple techniques to defend against a choke, a wrist grab and a bear hug," stated Feldt.

The workshop will start at noon and last approximately 1 hour. The cost is $50, however, if you bring a friend with you, it's free.

"I have tried to make it so the workshop can be free to anyone who needs it," stated Feldt. "All you need to do is bring a relative or friend. I want to reach as many people as possible with this workshop."

Due to the serious nature of the content presented, the minimum age of participation is 15 years of age.

Samurai Karate Studio teaches karate to children and adults, as well as a comprehensive character development and life skills program.
