Accountants for Social Good (ASG) Nears Its 5,000th Microfinance Loan

Portland, OR, October 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The popular CPA Kiva lending team, Accountants for Social Good approaches its 5000th loan - an impressive feat given its humble beginning just two and a half years ago.

Setting out with a mere two members in May 2010, ASG quickly grew in membership with dozens of CPAs and accounting professionals joining the team’s microfinance movement. Within a few months, ASG found itself in the “Top 5” of the business category for total amount lent on the renowned micro-lending platform, Kiva.org. They show no signs of slowing down. The team’s 122 members have lent over $125,000 to needy entrepreneurs and currently sit in 7th place for Total Amount Lent for all Kiva businesses. Currently helping to fund 4,529 loans, ASG aims to reach and surpass 5,000 by the end of 2012.

To founder Justin Curzi, these numbers don’t explain the real story. “The bottom line is that the increase loans simply translate to more entrepreneurs receiving vital loans previously inaccessible to them” explains Curzi. “Helping underprivileged entrepreneurs create better lives for themselves and their families continues to remain our focus for the team.”

Accountants for Social Good’s endeavors have been so successful that ASG has even founded a second team, The Microlending Fund (TMF) to reach out to the wider business community. To learn more about TMF visit www.microlendingfund.com.

Kiva is currently offering free $25 trials for new members to lend to any entrepreneur of their choice, at absolutely no cost. Simply visit http://www.kiva.org/invitedto/accountants_for_social_good/by/emofund to help ASG surpass their goal of 5,000 loans and get involved in microlending.
