Night Highlights Triumphs Over Domestic Violence
Chicago, IL, October 15, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Phoenix Gallery, Today's Chicago Woman Magazine, and 220 Communications recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and celebrate for a cause. Voices of Victory is a night of networking, fundraising, artistic experience, and fun that plans to raise funds and increase awareness for local women's abuse shelters. The event will be held from 6:30 - 10:30PM on Friday, October 19th at Phoenix Gallery, 1829 S. Halsted St. in Chicago. Proceeds benefit The House Of The Good Shepherd Shelter.
Guest will enjoy great food, signature cocktails, and an amazing silent auction. Items for auction include Bulls tickets, a new laptop, a trip to Las Vegas, and more.
Featured Voices Include: Founder of The Local Tourist Theresa Carter, Phoenix Gallery owner Jennifer Bridgeforth, and Milwaukee Author and Playwright Jodine Basterash.
“This fundraiser is important to me because of all of the women, men, and children who have been isolated or frightened into silence, and felt their voice had been permanently suppressed. The first time I went to file an order of protection against my ex, the case worker said that I was 'too pretty to get hit.' I knew what she was trying to do, but I realized that her statement was representative of the stereotypes of abuse. Everybody is too pretty to get hit, and if sharing my story helps them realize that, then I have become effective in my passion for positive change.” Quoted Ms. Bridgeforth.
In the past 2 years, Phoenix has been a contemporary art space as well as an intimate rental facility for corporate programs, private parties and special events that have included showers, receptions, and product and book releases. It has also begun to grow into its name as an empowerment space by hosting panel discussions and fundraisers for worthy causes. Adding to our offerings, we are excited to be launching individual life coaching and group seminars for the fall of 2012.
