Gainesville, FL, October 17, 2012 --(PR.com)-- HyGreen, Inc. announced today that it will showcase its hand hygiene system, HyGreen®, at IDWeek to be held October 17 – 21 in San Diego, CA. IDWeek is a joint meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the HIV Medicine Association (HIVMA), and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS) offering collaboration with internationally recognized leaders and the most highly respected health professionals in infectious diseases.
Healthcare associated infections take the lives of nearly 270 people in the U.S. every day and add approximately $30 - 50 billion to U.S. healthcare costs. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that many of these infections are caused by the lack of hand washing before and after each patient contact. HyGreen® addresses this problem by reminding healthcare workers to wash their hands and by recording all hand washing events and patient-staff interactions in the hospital.
“Using HyGreen, a healthcare facility will have the tools it needs to reduce infection rates and to increase patient safety,” states HyGreen Executive Vice President and General Manager, Kevin M. Quilty. “HyGreen was designed to reflect the recommended hand hygiene guidelines from leading industry experts, including the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Joint Commission.”
HyGreen will be demonstrating its real-time hand hygiene monitoring system in booth #1226.
