Dr. Leigh-Davis Plans Hybrid Class at Skillshare

If you think the political climate is polarizing, then you don’t know academia; as professors everywhere sue the universities that employ them.

New York, NY, October 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- “I love being a law professor,” is something Dr. Leigh-Davis has said many times. Thereby, she was most surprised when she started teaching in alternative educational platforms, like online workshops. “The university system has changed, and unfortunately, less and less weight is placed on being a great instructor, who is a master at relaying information,” Dr. Leigh-Davis disclosed. Dr. Leigh-Davis did not become a proponent of online education until just last year. However, she has taught at Skillshare before and is excited about their new hybrid class platform.

Skillshare is a marketplace to take and teach classes. Skillshare is powered by a community of teachers and students driven by a passion to share real-world skills through collaborative learning. The hybrid classes at Skillshare combine project-based, online learning with in-person workshops, allowing students to collaborate and learn with others around the globe. At Skillshare, teachers decide what to charge for a class. An individual class may cost about $30, with multi-session classes costing from $100 and up.

“Most likely, I am going to create a hybrid class on writing, but also, a class which entails building one’s writing samples; personal platform; and media kit. That way, everyone will walk away from the class with a full body of work,” Dr. Leigh-Davis elaborated. When asked whether she would return to the university system, Dr. Leigh-Davis replied, “Definitely! I am used to universities approaching me, and as the education system has changed, I find I have to apply and really pursue universities. However, I am still always open to finding the right position, especially in New York, Los Angeles, or London.” Dr. Leigh-Glass is planning to teach more than one (1) Skillshare class before the end of the year.
