Community Business College Awarded “Military Friendly School” Title for 4th Year by G.I. Jobs Magazine

Community Business College is recognized for its service offerings to veterans and military families with its fourth prestigious “Military Friendly School” designation in as many years.

Modesto, CA, October 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Victory Media, publisher of the monthly G.I. Jobs Magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has named Community Business College to the coveted Military Friendly Schools list for the fourth year in a row. The 2013 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.

“Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools shows Community Business College’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, Director for G.I. Jobs and Vice President at Victory Media.

Community Business College has placed a high priority of training and services on veterans and active-duty military families. Working with the Veterans Administration, the U.S. Department of Labor and the Department of Defense, the school has been able to provide employment training and job placement assistance to California’s Central Valley military families for over 14 years.

Frana Hamilton, Community Business College’s Director of Training, said of the award, “We’re delighted to receive recognition of the school’s efforts to assist courageous men and women and their families serving our country. They take time out of their lives to serve us and we appreciate the sacrifices they make every day. Military life can be very disruptive and our part of school’s mission is to do what we can to help. Many people oftentimes overlook the sacrifices military spouses and their children make and the important role they play in the defense of our country.”

Community Business College subscribes to the Service-members Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Military Student Bill of Rights. The school also participates in the “Thank You For Your Family’s Service,” Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA), G.I. Bill, and Work Investment Act (WIA) tuition scholarship programs to help eligible military-related students cover the costs of attending training and job placement assistance programs.

The school, along with the 1,738 other colleges, universities and trade schools on this year’s list, exhibit leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience. About G.I. Jobs Magazine
G.I. Jobs Magazine compiles the annual list to help veterans narrow down the best places to continue their education, said Sean Collins, brand manager for G.I. Jobs. "It's much like Consumer Reports," said Collins, a nine-year Navy veteran. "It's completely data-driven and it's a guide just like any consumer of any product would appreciate."

The 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 schools nationwide. The survey tabulation process, methodology and weightings that comprise the 2013 list were independently verified by Ernst and Young LLP. Each year schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board (AAB) consisting of educators from schools across the country.
