Chief Medical Officer at South Nassau Named Clinical Professor of Medicine at Hofstra NSLIJ School of Medicine

South Nassau and Hofstra NSLIJ School of Medicine have an academic affiliation agreement that combines the school’s academic and clinical resources with the hospital's clinical programs and physicians to provide world class medical training.

Oceanside, NY, October 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine at Hofstra University recently promoted Linda S. Efferen, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer at South Nassau Communities Hospital, to clinical professor of medicine.

A resident of South Huntington, Dr. Efferen is board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine, critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine and internal medicine. She has been listed in the Best Doctors in America database, Becker’s Hospital Review List of 56 Women Hospital and Healthcare Leaders to Know, Consumers Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Physicians and Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors: New York Metro Area (for seven years).

She has received a host of awards/honors, including a spot in the 2010 class of Long Island Business News’ Long Island’s Top 50 Business Women. She is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the New York Academy of Science, American College of Physicians, American College of Chest Physicians, American College of Critical Care Physicians, American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Under the agreement, Hofstra North Shore-LIJ medical students are offered clinical assignments and training opportunities with South Nassau’s community and hospital-based physicians encompassing ambulatory, in-patient and emergency services.
