The Chef’s Academy Partners with the John Avery Boys & Girls Club for Cakes for Kids Program

Culinary Institute Helps Local Children Celebrate Their Birthdays

Raleigh, NC, October 27, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Chef’s Academy (http://www.thechefsacademy.com), the Culinary Division of Harrison College, a 110-year-old, nationally accredited institution that offers 40 degree programs in five schools of study, has announced its partnership with The John Avery Boys & Girls Club of Durham for the “Cakes for Kids” program. Once a month, The Chef’s Academy’s pastry students and instructors will bake and deliver a special cake to help the children celebrate their birthdays. The program, which launched with its first birthday cake delivery in August, allows for The Chef’s Academy’s students to help provide excitement, fun and a tasty treat to children who might not be able to celebrate otherwise, and gives the pastry students a unique opportunity to sharpen and enhance their culinary techniques.

Quotes:
“Celebrating birthdays is a special treat, especially for children, which is why we are extremely excited to partner with The John Avery Boys & Girls Club for our Cakes for Kids program,” said Jayson M. Boyers, national division president of The Chef’s Academy. “This program provides our students with the opportunity to give back to the community, while continuing to share their culinary talents and abilities with others. We are dedicated to being active citizens within our community and this wonderful partnership creates another opportunity for students, faculty and staff of The Chef’s Academy to help give back to our neighbors.”

“This new program and partnership is truly a ‘win-win’ for The Chef’s Academy,” said Sherri Stolfo, pastry chef instructor at The Chef’s Academy. “Our pastry students are able to practice and hone their culinary skills while also bringing joy to the children of the Boys & Girls Club with the fantastic cakes they design and create.”
