Addicted to Skim: Vancouver Girl Turns Passion Into Career
SkimZone announced today that it will be launching its new website business effective October 31, 2012. SkimZone.com is a new web-based business borne of Vancouver girl’s passion for skimboarding.
Vancouver, Canada, October 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Live. Love. Skim.
“I love skimboarding. Plain and simple. And I want to share my passion and knowledge with everyone who is interested, whether they are new to the sport or, like me, have been addicted for a while,” says Founder, Nicole Rigler. “The goal is to be an industry leader on skimboarding, providing people quality information and advice about the sport and skimboard products.”
Skimboarding has been an underground sport for a long time but is gaining incredible popularity. If it was a youtube video, people would be saying it's gone viral. The sport is usually done on shores, either across the water or into shore-breaking waves in the ocean. Riders can also find good places to skim inland - on lakes, rivers, quarries or any decent puddle. It is considered a hybrid of surfing and skateboarding, incorporating many of the same maneuvers. Due to the nature of it, skimboarding is a great spectator sport: the rides are quick and they’re easy to see from the shore, offering everyone a chance to be involved, whether they skim or not. It’s very social.
“I remember when I started skimming a few years ago. Only a few of us did it and only a couple of us were girls. Now, on a typical summer day, you can expect to see the shores lined with skimmers, both guys and girls. It’s great to see.”
In the short time it has been live, SkimZone.com is already enjoying a lot of buzz in the skimboarding community. Officials expect this launch to gain worldwide attention and broaden its customer base. In keeping with the social, community-based nature of the sport, SkimZone is hosting an Official Launch Contest for skimboarders to showcase their artistic skills. Please visit www.skimzone.com for more details.
