Todd Huffman - IST Research’s Crowdsourcing Architect Moderates Young Innovator Panel

GEOINT 2012 Young Innovator Panel, Orlando, FL

Fredericksburg, VA, October 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Todd Huffman, IST Research Crowdsourcing Architect, was on hand in Orlando (FL) on Oct 11th to moderate the Young Innovator Panel (YIP) at the GEOINT 2012 event held at the Gaylord Palms. Todd, a multifaceted innovator himself is known for, among other things, his humanitarian efforts as well as being a vocal advocate for Open Data and has been referred to as one of the “brightest minds when it comes to crowdsourced GEOINT”. This panel was focused on investigating how the converging worlds of Crisis Mapping, Geosocial Networks, Open Data and Location-based Analytics are creating new data sets and tools. As Todd noted in his introduction, this change is being led by a new generation of dynamic thinkers and geodigital natives who are applying emerging technologies and analytical techniques to vast data sets.

Todd’s opening remarks set the stage for the panel speakers by stating “Over breakfast this morning, with these four innovative and interesting people, after an hour of conversation the word ‘sequestration’ had not come up a single time.” Each panelist, he went on, has a task to do and that's to make the world a better place. They are focused on that and do whatever it takes to get the job done. The YIP included Alex Cooper (Sr. Systems Engineer-SAIC), Shay Har-Noy (CEO-Tomnod), Shadrock Roberts (Sr. GIS Analyst-USAID) and Elizabeth Lyon (Army Corps of Engineers).

IST Research President & CEO, Ryan Paterson, was in attendance and said “As a company focused on innovation in this domain, it is extremely rewarding to have Todd invited to moderate this event. It is worthy recognition for him and IST Research as we continue our work delivering open data collection and collaboration technologies around the world.”
