Antwerp Diamonds Arrive in Montana

Kalispell jeweler returns from diamond trading capital of the world.

Kalispell, MT, November 21, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Lisa Poler just returned from the diamond trading capital of the world, Antwerp, Belgium, bringing back with her some of the most exquisite diamonds she has ever seen.

That’s quite a statement considering Poler, the owner of Kalispell’s Wheeler Jewelry, has spent the last 33 years as a professional jeweler, literally handling thousands of these precious stones in her Main Street shop.

Poler was in Belgium personally selecting diamonds for customers who’d given her their exact carat, cut, clarity and color specifications. She was entrusted with the rest, poring over thousands of diamonds in the tightly-secured showrooms of Antwerp, home to more than 80 percent of the world’s diamond trade.

“Every single diamond I looked at was just beautiful,” said Poler. “It was a joy both personally and professionally to get an international behind-the-scenes look at the diamond trade. But even better was the chance to act as a personal diamond broker for my customers, saving them a significant amount on their own diamonds.”

Poler traveled with a group of fellow jewelers organized by the Independent Jeweler’s Organization. Her store is one of just a few in the state that offer their customers this unique service. Linda Nelson of Kalispell jumped at the chance to retain Poler’s services when she learned of the upcoming trip. She and her husband Joel are about to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary and wanted to do something special for it.

“Lisa is extremely honest and I love working with her,” said Nelson. “The stone she brought back was just gorgeous and it was so cheap, I almost couldn’t believe it. I can’t wait to have Lisa help me create a pendant with it for our anniversary.”

Fortunately for her customers, Poler was also on the lookout for diamonds for her own store while overseas. She currently has several of them on display at Wheeler Jewelry, including the best deal she found in Antwerp.

“I have several stones I brought back that I would love to show off to customers, including this particular diamond I found the first day and spent the rest of my trip comparing to everything else I saw. None of the other ones I sorted through matched that diamond so I just had to go back for it,” said Poler. “It’s two carats and one of those stones that I will most likely think about all the time. Thankfully it will probably have a home in Kalispell soon.”
