Foundation for a Drug-Free South is Stepping Up the Fight Against Drugs and Crime in Tennessee

“Scientology: How We Help—The Truth About Drugs, Creating a Drug-Free World,” details how communities are using the Church of Scientology’s Truth About Drugs program to fight the drug scourge.

Nashville, TN, November 23, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Through work done by two Church of Scientology parishioners in Tennessee, more than 10,000 youth have received information on the Truth About Drugs.

Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, “The planet has hit a barrier which prevents any widespread social progress—drugs and other biochemical substances. These can put people into a condition which not only prohibits and destroys physical health but which can prevent any stable advancement in mental or spiritual well-being.”

Anne and Marc Vallieres set out to create a drug-free society when they noticed heavy drug abuse in their own small community of Woodbury. “It was awful, to see so many young people doing meth and cocaine in our community – and we have a very small community. So we knew that we had to do something about it, because we could tell that it must be like this all over the state,” says Anne Vallieres.

A newly released brochure, Scientology: How We Help—The Truth About Drugs, Creating a Drug-Free World, details work done with the drug education initiative among law enforcement, community activists, schools and religious groups across the world.

In Tennessee, the Vallieres began giving seminars to school children in 2009 and have since visited nearly 30 counties in the state. “The first thing we have to do is reach the children. They are most susceptible to targeting by dealers,” says Vallieres.

Marc Vallieres said they will have a benefit concert on Dec 1st at 7pm at the Nashville Church of Scientology to be able to continue support of this program. At the benefit the new How We Help brochure will be available. To read a copy of the brochure or to learn more about this drug education program, visit the Scientology website.

The Church of Scientology supports Truth About Drugs, one of the world’s largest nongovernmental drug education and prevention campaigns. It has been conclusively proven that when young people are provided with the truth about drugs—factual information on what drugs are and what they do—usage rates drop commensurately.
