Software and Computer Systems Company, LLC, Announces the Release of Scannerz Lite for Mac OS X

Software and Computer Systems Company, LLC has announced the release of a light weight, low cost version of their product Scannerz for Mac OS X. The name of the new product is Scannerz Lite, and will allow a user to test a hard drive simply and quickly at a very low cost.

Reston, VA, November 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Software and Computer Systems Company, LLC, (SCSC) has released Scannerz Lite for the Mac OS X Operating System. Scannerz Lite is a hard drive analysis tool utilizing advanced diagnostic algorithms developed by SCSC and is intended to be a "Fire and Forget" tool, allowing a user to perform an evaluation on their hard drive(s) without all the features of it's big brother, Scannerz for Mac OS X.

"We recognized the fact that a lot of people think they have drive related problems when they really don't," stated an SCSC spokesman. "Sometimes people will upgrade an operating system, add a new peripheral, or add an application, and suddenly find their systems are slowing down or exhibiting problems they hadn't seen before. Many of these problems make them think they have drive problems when they don't. Scannerz Lite is a simple, low cost drive testing tool that will allow them to find out if the drive or any of its related subsystem components are really the culprit.

"Scannerz Lite is not as sophisticated as it's big brother, Scannerz for Mac OS X, but the same error and irregularity detection is still present. Needless to say, a lot of Scannerz advanced features are not present in Scannerz Lite. Scannerz Lite does not have any cursory mode testing options that a lot of techs and sophisticated end users can use to troubleshoot systems. Scannerz Lite does not have any detailed real time logging facilities. The summary report generation in the fully featured version of Scannerz for Mac OS X is also missing. Scannerz Lite is intended to be a simple tool. The user simply selects the drive or volume they want to evaluate, click on a button to start the test, and at the end of the test, Scannerz Lite tells them the status of the drive. It's just that easy."

Scannerz Lite's ability to detect not only surface scan errors but irregularities separates it from other drive testing tools on the market. This is important because many problems that aren't directly drive related can mimic hard drive problems. Since there aren't any provisions for troubleshooting in Scannerz Lite, if problems are present, SCSC advises the user to take the generated log file to a qualified technician for further evaluation.

Scannerz Lite is available for $7.95 from SCSC's web site. Unlike the fully featured version of Scannerz, Scannerz Lite does not include any versions of FSE or FSE-Lite, but the data files Scannerz Lite generates are fully compatible with those of the fully featured version of Scannerz, if the user wishes to upgrade at a later time.
