Born in the poor sections of Manila, Philippines, at the age of 4 years old, her parents flew to hopes of a better life and new opportunities in the heart of South Philadelphia. Santalina listened to everything from Aretha and Donna Hathaway to Janis Joplin and Aerosmith.

Santalina has been singing since she was 2 years old, often belting out a tune at family functions, church and talent shows. But she didn’t rise to prominence through the most popular of television talent shows (you know, the one with the moody and nasty host from across the Pond?).
