Operation: Coming Home Hosts Key Ceremony for Fourth Hero Home Dec. 10

Volunteer Project Completes Fourth Custom-Built Home to Honor the Service of U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Richie Chavis

Raleigh, NC, November 30, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Operation: Coming Home (http://operationcominghome.com), a joint volunteer project by the Triangle Veterans Association, Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBA) and Royal Oaks Building Group, among others, will hold a key ceremony Monday, Dec. 10 in Cameron, N.C., to officially present the organization’s fourth hero home to U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Richie Chavis and his family. Chavis, a member of 1/8 Weapons Company, 2 D Marine Division out of Camp Lejeune, lost both legs when he was severely injured by an Improvised Explosive Device in Afghanistan on Nov. 29, 2010. Since his injury, he has been active in the Wounded Warrior Battalion-East, an organization dedicated to helping severely wounded, injured and ill Marines and their families through the recovery and transition process.

The fourth Hero Home is specially equipped and wheelchair-friendly, with features designed to provide easy accessibility to all rooms. Operation: Coming Home volunteers and local dignitaries will be on hand during the ceremony to present Chavis with the key to his new house, which he will share with wife, Laken Lecole, their son, Isiah, and their daughter, Madeline Rose.
