)-- Grasshopper Solar Corporation was announced the winner of the 2012 Canadian Solar Innovator Award last night at the 2012 CanSIA GameChanger Awards Gala, hosted by the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA). The awards gala was held to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of solar industry leaders who have made significant contribution to the advancement of the Canadian solar industry.
Individual and corporate leaders in the Canadian solar industry were nominated for the awards and all the submissions were reviewed by an esteemed committee comprised of industry professionals. The competition was fierce with the committee receiving more than 100 nominations across the 12 different categories. The selection process was rigorous and was overseen by KPMG.

Solar is the way of the future and many leading nations have already made tremendous headway. We need to do the same to help boost our local economy and be a part of the future global economy."
The Solar Innovator Award category was designed to recognize a company whose initiatives were innovative and creative in terms of promoting the significance and benefits of solar power to broad audiences while attaining its business goals.
“I am delighted to see that a hard-driving, entrepreneurial company like Grasshopper has taken the award,” said John Gorman, President of CanSIA.
