Ocala Company Creates Patch to Honor Murdered Navy Vet

Ocala, FL, December 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Navy Lt. Charles “Chick” Silva, 77, served his country in Vietnam flying F-8 fighter jets, and flew reconnaissance flights during the 1962 Cuban missile crisis. In September, he was brutally attacked at a Virginia private airport, and died Oct. 24.

When family and friends chose to honor him by having a special embroidered patch made with his name on it, they turned to Wholesale-Patches.com, a division of Ocala-based TJM Promotions. On Saturday, Dec. 8, Naval Academy Midshipman Tra’ves Bush took the field wearing the patch at the annual Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia.

As reported in the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot, the Naval Academy tradition of having players wear patches of their choice for the Army game dates back decades. Bush chose to honor Silva after reading a letter from Silva’s son detailing what happened to him.
