First International Symposium on Advanced Networks and Telecommunication Systems (ANTS 2007), Dec 17, 18, Bombay, India

Mumbai, India, July 26, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Emerging broadband services demand unified technologies spread across the physical, data, and network layers. Integrated platforms have benefits in terms of cost and ability to provision services. To investigate into problems at the optical, data-link (SONET/SDH/Ethernet/RPR), and network (MPLS, IP) layers, the First International Symposium on Advanced Networks and Telecommunication Systems (ANTS) (www.antsconference.org) is being conceptualized in India's commercial capital Mumbai, Dec 17-18.

* Technically co-sponsored by IEEE COMSOC (Communications Society)

Scope: Broadband access networks are witnessing a convergence in terms of both technologies and services. Next-generation services demand unified technologies spread across the physical, data-link, and network layers. Integrated platforms have benefits in terms of deployment cost as well as the ability to provision new services. To investigate into these problems at the optical (physical), data-link (SONET/SDH/Ethernet/RPR), and the network (MPLS, IP) layers, the First International Symposium on Advanced Networks and Telecommunication Systems (ANTS) 2007 is being organized. A special focus of the symposium in this inaugural year will be on emerging economies – India, China, Brazil, Russia, etc. The symposium will be held in the commercial and entertainment capital of India – Bombay (Mumbai) – on December 17-18, 2007. The symposium proposes to be a mix of academia, industry, and service providers, enabling a common meeting point for the confluence and exchange of ideas in the following and related areas:

• Convergence in Broadband Access Technologies
• Broadband networks for metro enterprises
• Storage and grid computing
• First mile access networks (Passive Optical Networks(PON),Power line Communications(PLC), and Long reach Ethernet)
• Long Reach Broadband Access (PON-WiMax-WiFi convergence)
• Optical networks
• Network architectures and protocols
• Routing, traffic, services over optical networks
• Protocol layering
• Protection and restoration – service level agreements (SLA)
• Futuristic and technologies for emerging economies
• Equipment provider experiences, planning and future designs
• Metro Ethernet, PBB, PBT, PBB-TE
• MPLS, VPLS, VPNs
• Service provider experiences, planning and future designs
• ITU, OIF, IETF activities
• Metro, access, and core networks

Submissions: Authors are encouraged to submit a two-page paper to submissions@antsconference.org. Papers should be in PDF format, US letter size (to facilitate IEEE xplore archival), including a 35-word abstract and in 2-column format, IEEE ComSoc style. (For questions, please email to submissions@antsconference.org. The symposium would be a single-track event and authors are encouraged to present their work to a highly-motivated, business and academic savvy audience in India’s industrial capital – Mumbai (formerly Bombay) in the pleasant month of December. To achieve wide participation, no author may submit more than 2 papers to the conference.

Special Issue in Elsevier’s Optical Switching and Networking (OSN) Journal: Authors of top papers presented in ANTS would be invited to submit longer versions of the paper for a special issue in Elsevier’s Optical Switching and Networking Journal. www.elsevier.com/locate/osn

Papers to appear on IEEE xplore: All accepted papers in ANTS 2007 will be digitally archived through the IEEE.
