)-- Robert Weiss, Artistic Director and CEO of Carolina Ballet (http://www.carolinaballet.com), has announced that Nathan McGaha has been promoted to the position of General Manager of Carolina Ballet beginning Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. McGaha will replace Lisa Jones, who is leaving the company in January. McGaha joined Carolina Ballet as the company’s production manager in 2012 after serving as the director of operations at North Carolina Dance Theatre (NCDT) in Charlotte, N.C., under the direction of Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux. In that position, McGaha created and implemented a variety of programs including the cARTwheels and American Masters programs, which bring high quality ballet to elementary students throughout North Carolina. There he worked to create large new works including The Nutcracker, Othello and Dangerous Liasons, and ensured that NCDT moved comfortably into its new home and performance venue in the heart of the city. Prior to the move, McGaha served as NCDT’s lighting supervisor and resident lighting designer. McGaha previously was the production manager for Chautauqua Dance at Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, N.Y., and toured internationally with Complexions Dance Company. McGaha graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts School of Design and Production in Winston-Salem, N.C.
“We are very excited to announce the promotion of Nate McGaha to General Manager,” said Weiss. “His previous experience, both with Carolina Ballet and with other companies, makes him an exceptional fit for this role. We look forward with great anticipation to Nate’s leadership and vision for the future of our company.”
