Award Winning Novel, Heart’s Blood Named to the Kirkus Reviews’ Best of 2012 List

Award winning author adds more accolades to the list. Elizabeth Zinn is pleased to announce that her novel, Heart’s Blood has been named to Kirkus Reviews’ Best of 2012 list.

Tucson, AZ, December 19, 2012 --(PR.com)-- This family saga was also a finalist in the 2012 International Book Awards, received Honorable Mention at the 2012 San Francisco Book Festival, and was a finalist, in the 2011 Leapfrog Press Fiction Contest!

Heart's Blood is a novel of place, filled with lyrical and cinematic descriptions of the grasslands and vistas of the southern Arizona border, the changing seasons, and the people who are part of the rich mix of rural life at the end of the 20th century. On one level it brims with those themes that scream at us daily from the media about the evils of the drug trade, illegal immigration, human smuggling, and the plight of those caught up in the drama of life on both sides of the border. But at the most fundamental level it transcends place and time, for it is a tale of secrets kept and revealed, blood ties versus emotional ties, blood spilled and blood passed on from generation to generation, family to family.

Heart’s Blood blends the complexities of life on the border with the universal themes of blood relationships and secrets kept across generations.

“The author’s love for Arizona is immersed in her lyrical writing, as the impact of environment on family is threaded wonderfully into various plotlines...Zinn’s characterization is purposeful, deep and rich... An eloquent, refreshing perspective of the struggles faced by those living along the Mexican border.” --Kirkus Reviews (Starred Review)
